JAMES BARRIE James Barrie sends a manuscript letter of encouragement. Manuscript Letter Signed: "Yours Sincerely/J.M. Barrie", 1¾p, 5½x7. Adelphi Terrace House, Strand, 1927 February 11. To theatrical producer William A. Brady. In part: "I am of course very interested in your letter and delighted with the continued success of 'What Every Woman Knows.' For that enterprize (sic) you are mainly responsible. I support you in the lines you propose, hoping of course much that Miss Hayes who has done so splendidly for the play can stay on and...go into 'Mary Rose' or something else of mine under your management...I told him to mention also that the first act, or rather part of it was played here later as a one-act play under some such title as 'Seven Women'. I dont (sic) think this was done in U S A but you will know I expect." British novelist and playwright SIR JAMES M. BARRIE, best remembered for his play Peter Pan (first performed in 1904), wrote What Every Woman Knows in 1908 and Mary Rose in 1920.HELEN HAYES' performance in Barrie's Dear Brutus (1918) made her a star.
